The Community Collaborative Research Center (CCRC) is an interdisciplinary collaboration at the University of Colorado Denver that pairs community and university experts to develop equitable solutions to the impacts of economic inequality and climate change.
Our Core Values
Climate Justice
Within the Denver metropolitan region and the wider Colorado community, our most vulnerable residents face mounting climate-related challenges such as extreme heat and toxic air quality, as well as droughts, increased fire and flood risk, and extreme weather. The CCRC looks to leverage its position in an academic institution to provide political & material resources to vulnerable communities facing climate injustice.
Health Equity
Public health crises resulting from toxic air quality and extreme heat threaten lives and livelihoods. It is an also an equity issue, in which certain communities share a higher burden and risk of chronic and acute health issues over others. The CCRC strives to connect with projects that promote health equity.
Community Collaboration
Neighborhoods and communities are not defined by their vulnerability. Participatory research, planning, and projects are ways that University partners can help residents build on existing community strengths and challenge oppressive systems. Collaboration is at the heart of all projects and activities that the CCRC takes on.
