North Denver/Inland Port Electrification

Community Partner: GreenLatinos

This project focuses on conducting community-engaged research to promote a just transition towards electrification of Denver’s shipping and transportation sector, the majority of which is concentrated in the North Denver region.

The task is to ensure the equitable and effective implementation electrification initiatives by prioritizing disproportionately impacted populations. These populations include truck drivers and warehouse employees exposed to high amounts of diesel and particulate matter pollution from trucks as well as small business owners who may be concerned about the financial implications of transitioning to an electric fleet.

Components of this Project Include:
1) Education, outreach, and communication strategies surrounding available incentives/resources and the associated benefits of electrification (with an emphasis on combatting disinformation)
2) Health impact studies of workers and exposure levels before and after electrification
3) Focus groups and interviews with key stakeholders assessing barriers and opportunities for the transition as well as remaining policy and funding gaps.
